Gravity is all around us. We experience it when we drop things, or when things The Experimental Astrophysics Group at Fermilab works on the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, which is used for astronomical research more than any other telescope. This summer, we need your help with two research projects.
The first project measures how much light bends as it goes through clusters of galaxies. You will look at the distorted images of galaxies and analyze them to figure out how much mass causes the distortion. The second project will use images of big, bright, nearby galaxies the the SDSS measured to predict what a telescope in space will see. We are helping design this mission right now. |
