Summer Student Research 2010

Fermilab Research Outreach GroupS

Summer students, calling themselves "F.R.O.G.S," engaged in two areas of Fermilab research: Astronomy and Robotics. Fermilab helped the Sloan Digital Sky Survey make a comprehensive map of the Universe. Students worked to understand the classification of stars and how to use the MKK System to classify stellar spectra from the SDSS. Robots help researchers at Fermilab. Students used and programmed robotic systems using LabVIEW. These robots build and test electronics and optical systems. Working on these automated systems put their robotics skills to the test.
