The second column is a two digit number. The "tens" bit is always 1 or 5. A "1" indicates that this event is a simple trigger; the cosmic ray passed right through the detector. A "5" indicates that the cosmic ray stopped in the detector. The "ones" bit is the sum of channel tags to indicate which counters or channels observed the cosmic ray. The top counter is tagged with the value 20, the second counter is 21, the third counter is 22.
The data to the right contain all of these event tags.
- There are 22 events with a "13" tag. These are events that went through counters one and two and then left the detector (20 + 21 = 3).
- There are 5 events with a "16" tag. These are events that went through counters two and three and then left the detector (21 + 22 = 6).
- One "17" event went through all three counters (20 + 21 + 22 = 7).
- The event tagged "57" indicates a cosmic ray may have stopped in the detector after entering all three counters (20 + 21 + 22 = 7).
